Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) at Folger

A Biospherical Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) light sensor measures omnidirectional light between 400-700nm at the Folger Pinnacle instrument platform, positioned approximately 23m below the surface in Folger Passage. Photosynthetically active radiation designates the spectral range (wave band) of solar radiation from 400 to 700 nanometers that photosynthetic organisms are able to use in the process of photosynthesis.PAR measurements can be used to calculate the euphotic depth in the ocean.
