EK60 Echosounder Data

The EK60 is a scientific single-beam echosounder that can operate up to seven frequencies simultaneously. Files are provided in the manufacturer's format as collected during maintenance cruises.

Formats

There is a .idx, .bot, and .raw file available for each time period. These are provided in a zipped directory. Files may be read using Kongsberg's ER60 software.

IDX

The index files (.idx) are files automatically generated by the echo sounder to navigate through the.raw files.

BOT

Bottom files are automatically generated by the echo sounder, and each bottom file is paired with the *.idx and *.raw
files for the same raw data. The bottom files contain the depth for each ping as detected by the echo sounder.

RAW

Raw data are stored in the *.raw format. These are the files recorded by the echo sounder(s) that have provided the
information.
