Sometimes data can be restricted from access to general users. As defined in some Data Partnerships, data can be restricted from general user access. Data that are restricted will have a red exclamation icon over their data format in Data Search.

Hover over the red icons to view a tool tip as to why the data is not available.

An example message of what the tool tip might say.

Data may be queried in the API, but return no values. They should instead return a message indicating data is restricted and to contact an ONC staff member to request access.

To gain access, one must

  1. approach Ocean Networks Canada through the appropriate contact
  2. be given consent from the party restricting data

Please indicate the following in your initial email to ONC:

  • The User's Oceans 3.0 account(s) that you wish to be granted data access (provide user email accounts)
  • The Date Range of the request
    • Date Range of Data
      • (eg. for all-time, specific date ranges YYYY-MM-DD - YYYY-MM-DD)
    • Date Range of User Access
      • (eg. for 2 months as of access granted, forever)
  • Which Data and Data Products are you targeting for your request (can be all data and data products)

Once an agreement is made between the requesting user and the party restricting data, the user accounts will be given the appropriate access as agreed in the letters of consent.

  • Access may be granted to all data or a subset of the data restricted as defined in the letters of consent
  • Access may be indefinite or limited to a certain amount of time as defined in the letters of consent
  • No labels
