Digital Still
Digital Stills are single-frame images captured by some video cameras. They are typically of much higher resolution, and lower exposure time than single frames extracted from video files.

JPEG
Compressed, lossy image format.

DNG
Lossless format. Adobe Systems Inc.'s patented RAW format.
DNG files contain much more information than JPEG images. For example, they have higher bit-depth for exposure and colour. As a result, DNG files are much larger in size than JPEG files.
Specialist software may be required to view/edit DNG files. Applications that are known to open DNG files include:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Lightroom
- Photos (Mac OS)
- Preview (Mac OS)
- Photos (Windows, may require installation of codec)
